Introduction to the characteristics of sports shoes-running shoes
Sports shoes are shoes designed and manufactured according to the sports characteristics and sports venues when people perform various sports. The sports shoes we often come into contact with include running shoes, skateboard shoes, basketball shoes, football shoes, hiking shoes, etc. Different sports shoes have different functional characteristics and design concepts.
Running shoe features
The most obvious feature of running shoes is that they have a high toe curvature (also called forward curvature, represented by the height of the toe from the ground). The toe curvature can make the shoes more in line with the movement patterns and human body mechanics of running. In addition, the rubber sheet on the sole usually extends to the upper of the toe (colloquially referred to as the "forward nose" in the shoe industry) to protect the toe.
2. Structural characteristics of running shoes
Structurally, running shoes usually consist of three parts: outsole, midsole, and upper.
Outsole: It is the part of the shoe that is in contact with the ground. The basic requirement of the outsole is wear resistance and anti-slip. It is usually made of rubber material. Because rubber is relatively heavy, in order to achieve lightweight requirements, the thickness of the outsole is generally 3 to 5 mm. In addition, the rubber outsole will be designed with various patterns to improve traction and prevent slipping.
Midsole: It is between the outsole and the upper. It is usually made of EVA, IP, PHYLON and other materials. Each brand also has its own cushioning technology. The midsole provides the softness, elasticity, cushioning, lightness and other requirements required by running shoes, and is a key factor in the comfort of running shoes.
Upper: The part above the midsole that fits the midsole. Breathability is the basic requirement for the upper. Because a lot of sweat is produced during running, the upper must have excellent breathability and heat dissipation capabilities. In addition, the shoe upper design is required to be beautiful and to cover and fit the foot. Light and breathable materials are usually used, such as mesh, artificial leather, etc.
